Essential oils can be incredibly powerful. The scents have an immediate impact on mood and may provide a range of benefits when taken orally, applied to the skin, or used in aromatherapy. But there is one oil that stands above the rest… Frankincense! I have experienced the power of Frankincense in my life throughout my journey of finding health.
Frankincense is greatly prized for its health benefits. Its history goes back to biblical times, and many of the applications from that period are just as valid today.
What is Frankincense?
Frankincense is an extract, gathered from the resin or gum or olibanum or frankincense trees. A steam distillation process helps collect the oil from the resin, creating a potent and high-quality extract.
The resulting frankincense oil is so potent that just a few drops can produce astounding effects and benefits.
Why is Frankincense Beneficial?
Frankincense oil has a number of amazing properties. It’s an effective antiseptic, astringent, and disinfectant. The extract can be used to promote healthy bodily functions.
The scent of frankincense oil can be incredibly relaxing, whether as part of incense or with topical applications. This has made frankincense oil a popular addition to perfumes, colognes, and other cosmetics. But some of the most remarkable benefits relate specifically to health.
When taken internally, frankincense oil has the ability to promote better health by improving cellular function. It allows your cells to function more efficiently, reducing toxins and preventing damage.
The effect on the immune system can be dramatic, boosting the production of white blood cells to help the body defend against illness.
Frankincense oil can also improve blood flow and circulation which can allow you to experience better health by allowing your body to operate efficiently. Your red blood cells can carry oxygen to your vital organs and extremities with greater ease when your circulation improves. This can give you additional energy and vitality through improved blood flow.
Frankincense oil is making waves in the medical community. Doctors and scientists alike are studying the effects of this powerful natural compound on a variety of ailments and discomforts. Don’t be surprised if in the not so distant future a doctor recommends Frankincense oil to you!
How You Can Use Frankincense
Frankincense oil is generally safe to use in nearly any application in the proper quantities. However, if you want to experience some of the benefits listed above, then an oral application is generally the best approach. Here are my recommendations:
Roof of the Mouth
Applying a few drops of frankincense oil is a quick way to ensure it absorbs properly. While this sounds tricky on the surface, you don’t have to hang your head upside down to make it work.
Simply place a drop or two of your thumb and press it to the roof of your mouth. Hold your thumb in place for about 30 seconds, giving the oil a chance to transfer from your thumb to the roof of your mouth.
Under the Tongue
By placing a couple of drops of frankincense oil under the tongue, it will enter directly into the bloodstream. The approach is similar to the popular B vitamin oral liquids, helping this helpful oil quickly circulate through your body.
Place a couple of drops under the tongue and allow it to sit in place for about 30 seconds. This ensures it has a chance to absorb into the bloodstream.
Ultimately, the numerous benefits of frankincense oil are hard to ignore. Plus, when taken properly by those without a sensitivity, it’s a safe addition to your health and wellness regime.
